Forains d'Orient

Forains d'Orient

A pair of cups created in VIenna, Austria in the early 19th century inspired the FODO pattern. As the most important porcelain supplier of the imperial court in the second half of the 19th century, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory was authorized by the Emperor Franz Joseph to use the patterns of the Viennese porcelain factory after it was closed down in 1864. However, Herend artistes didn't simply adopt these motifs, but reinterpreted and adjusted them to their own panting style, as evidenced by the FODO pattern. This collection is hand-painted and hand-gilded with 24 K gold.
