12 earthenware illustrated plates decorated with polychromes personified animals realizing various activities, captioned on the edge in sepia tones :

"La lutte à main platte", "Réunion électorale", "La Guerre", "Chanteurs ambulants", "Une soirée", "Sans douleur", "Grande représentation", Sérénade","Un grand criminel, "Une affaire d'honneur","Socié. Financière","La Bourse ou la vie !"

Work realized by the French Creil & Montereau Manufactory, in good condition. One plate, "Une Soirée" has a big chip on the edge (see picture).

Creil & Montereau was created in 1840 with the fusion of two rival firms: Creil (created in 1774) and Montereau (created in 1745). This earthenware (and porcelain) manufactory was famous for its technique of engraved image decal and for having produced tje famous "Rousseau" Service after Felix Bracquemond engravings.
